Winter Celebrations 2022: December 31
Celebrate the holiday season with us! Between December 21-31, the first floor of Anvil Centre will come alive with the Winter World lantern labyrinth and performances. Winter World visits are free and include community performances and activities. The event mainstage also features ticketed events that offer something for everyone with plenty for families and art lovers alike. Celebrate the holidays with family and friends at one of our FREE community performances.

Schedule of performances for December 31
Maple Leaf Singers 1pm – 2pm
25 singers perform in this “show chorus” with 6-part harmony and choreography. The group is made up of individuals ranging in age from 18 to 80 years of age. The Maple Leaf Singers draw its members from all parts of Metro Vancouver.
Cassius Khan & Amika Kushwaha 5:30 pm
New West musician Cassius Khan performs classical ghazal/thumri singing and on the tabla. He performs with his wife Amika Kushwaha, a kathak dancer. Canada’s most recognizable Indian Classical musician, the globally renowned Cassius Khan is a performer of combining the Classical styles of Ghazal/Thumri singing and the Tabla, the North Indian pair of drums and presents both, simultaneously. Amika Kushwaha is a performer, choreographer and instructor of Kathak. She is one of the few Kathak artists in Canada who pairs her performances with live musical accompaniment. The pair will be accompanied by Farid Nowrozi on harmonium. This live collaboration between dancer and musician enables moments of spontaneity and thus no two performances are ever the same.
