A Double Bill of Contemporary Aerial Performance
Imago/Obsidian promises an extraordinary evening of contemporary aerial performance featuring two internationally acclaimed works that blur the boundaries between circus, dance, and visual theatre.
Opening the evening is Obsidian by French artist Melkior Arthur, a haunting aerial solo performed on a sculptural apparatus of the artist’s own design. Moving through mineral landscapes, shifting bodies, and states of emergence, the work unfolds as a darkly poetic meditation on transformation and embodiment.
The evening continues with Imago by Vancouver-based company Corpo Imago, an award-winning contemporary aerial dance duet that was celebrated at the 2025 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Described as “visually stunning” and “emotionally resonant,” the work explores the fragile space between holding on and letting go, drawing audiences into a world of breathtaking physicality, intimate connection, and metamorphosis.
Together, these works create a mesmerizing, shared journey through suspension, shedding, and becoming—where aerial performance becomes a language of visual poetry.
The 2026/2027 Anvil Theatre Presents series features award-winning artists from near and far. Innovative. Captivating. Awe-inspiring. This season, discover something new…something classic…something for everyone. The Anvil Theatre is the place to be.
